Iron Range Resources in 2009 strengthened Taconite Assistance Area communities by providing more than $18.7 million in grants to communities for projects to rebuild infrastructure and prepare communities for business and residential growth.
Communities received grants for infrastructure and site development to new housing developments within the Iron Range Resources’ service area, public works projects, industrial park infrastructure and commercial site development.
The $18.7 million in grants leveraged more than $112.4 million in total project expenditures.
Since the agency’s community development program began in the late 1970s, Iron Range Resources has provided $523.6 million for community development projects within the Taconite Assistance area.
