7 December 2009Giants Ridge Readies for Ski Season
With all 37 snow guns at Giants Ridge cranked up and making snow by the ton, Minnesota’s top-ranked ski resort is readying for a new season.
By Saturday, December 12, Giants Ridge anticipates having a half dozen or more of its 35 alpine runs open, groomed and ready for skiers to enjoy. With a snowstorm forecast for northeastern Minnesota Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, skiing is likely to be great!
An upgraded snowmaking system will this year provide Giants Ridge with the ability to make snow when the temperature is above 15 degrees. The new system pumps larger volumes of water to the resort’s snowmaking guns, translating into more snow of a higher quality.
Giants Ridge has been ranked by Ski Magazine as Minnesota’s Top Ski Resort. Along with 200 acres of downhill runs, Giants Ridge offers 60 kilometers of cross country trails, a terrain park, chalet, sports dorm, rental shop, ski maintenance facility and access to snowshoe and more than 2,000 miles of groomed snowmobile trails.
