6 November 2009Residential Community Redevelopment Program completes successful 2009 season
November 6, 2009
Seven months after removing an unsightly house and garage in Virginia, the Iron Range Resources Residential Community Redevelopment Program is wrapping up a busy 2009 season.
The program, in which Iron Range Resources partners with Taconite Assistance Area cities, townships and property owners to raze dilapidated residential buildings, removed over 60 structures from May through November. Demolition and removal of old buildings eliminates blight and initiates the first step in redevelopment within the agency’s service area.
Communities that benefited from the program in 2009 were Aitkin, Balkan Township, Bovey, Brimson, Buhl, Chisholm, Cohasset, Coleraine, Ely, Hibbing, Keewatin, Marble, Two Harbors and Virginia.
