17 September 2009Construction begins at Cook assisted living facility

A new $2.5 million assisted living facility that will create an estimated 20 to 25 jobs is under construction in Cook, Minnesota.

The Carefree Living Center, a 29-unit facility being built by Spectrum Health Care Company, will offer assisted living for 34 residents. The facility is located near the Cook Hospital & Nursing Care Unit.

Full-time positions that will be created include a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, administrative and certified nursing assistants.  

Construction is projected to be complete in March 2010.

Spectrum Health Company also has facilities in Brainerd, Duluth, Ely, Faribault, Grand Rapids, Rochester, St. Cloud, the Twin Cities, Willmar and Virginia.

Iron Range Resources provided a $280,000 Public Works Infrastructure Grant to the City of Cook for water, sewer, road and site improvements to the project.
