Construction is underway on a new $1.8 million, 12,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Nashwauk.
Midwest Manufacturing and Mechanical, Inc. is a newly established company that will manufacture custom industrial sizing/classifying screens in a new facility at the Nashwauk Industrial Park. The screens, which will be sold worldwide, will be used in the iron ore, coal and food industries.
Company officials expect to begin manufacturing screens in the first quarter of 2009.
Initially, Midwest Manufacturing and Mechanical, Inc. will hire 10 new production employees at wages of $15 to $18 per hour, plus a full benefits package. The company intends to ramp up to 27 production employees.
Iron Range Resources supported construction of the building and the acquisition and installation of the equipment needed to manufacture the screens with a $370,000 loan. The loan was approved at a November 24, 2008 meeting of the Iron Range Resources Board.
