300 construction workers on job At Essar Steel Minnesota facilities

P&H Mining Equipment breaks ground on $17 million building in Virginia

Groundbreaking ceremonies were held on Monday, October 31 for a new $17 million building for P&H Mining Equipment in Virginia, Minnesota. Local, county, state and P&H MinePro Services officials participated in a ceremonial groundbreaking of the new 92,000 square-foot equipment repair and service facility. A groundbreaking celebration was held on Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Wind, Algae, Rain and Food (WARF) Greenhouse Project in the Eco-Industrial Park in Silver Bay, Minnesota. Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB) supported the project through a $250,000 renewable energy grant to the City of Silver Bay.

Commissioner Tony Sertich, of the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB), today announced IRRR Board approval of agency financial assistance for several business and community development projects at its Thursday, October 20, 2011 board meeting at IRRRB headquarters in Eveleth.

Realife housing development open for occupancy in Hibbing

A $250,000 Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board grant has helped the City of Hibbing leverage construction of a new $5 million, 22-unit Realife senior housing community in Hibbing.

Thirty-two full-time equivalent construction jobs were created by the project. A grand opening including City of Hibbing and Realife officials, was Saturday, October 8, 2011.

Silicon Energy’s solar plant begins production in Mountain Iron

Canisteo Mine Pit Phase 1 drain tile project completed

A $300,000 Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board appropriation has assisted funding the planning and design process required to reach a solution to rising water within the Canisteo Mine Pit on the western Iron Range.

Water in the abandoned mine pit has been rising for years due to groundwater and surface water infiltration.

IRRRB grant helps Two Harbors EDA complete new business development site

A $175,000 Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB) grant has assisted the Two Harbors Economic Development Authority in completing a 7.06-acre site for new business development.

The greenfield site, zoned for commercial development activity, is located along County State Aid Highway 26, less than a mile north of Highway 61.

IRRRB funding assisted in site work and extending water and sewer infrastructure to the parcel.
